Two-day event throws light on risk management

LUDHIANA: Risk is an integral part of agriculture.

Ludhiana, February 22

Risk is an integral part of agriculture. Each day, farmers confront different types of risk but continuous changes in the risk environment and knowledge about available tools to manage the risk make it a compelling reason to engage in risk management education.

Keeping this in view, the Punjab Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (PAMETI), in collaboration with CCS National Institute of Agricultural Marketing (NIAM), Jaipur, organised a two-day training programme entitled “Risk Management & Modern Marketing System of Agri-commodities” from February 21 to 22 for the benefit of 25 trainees, including extension officers from Department of Agriculture, Horticulture, Dairy Development, ATMA, and Agribusiness entrepreneurs from Punjab.

Amanjit Singh, Deputy Commissioner, GST, along with Sathyendra Kumar, Faculty, CCS NIAM, Jaipur, inaugurated the training programme. He highlighted the importance of storing, processing, packaging, grading and transportation for the distribution of agricultural commodities from the farmers’ field to the end consumers. Sathyendra discussed the various types of risks that farmers face in agriculture on daily basis.
