Standing wheat crop around 2.5 acres was destroyed when a major fire broke out at Landa village on Monday night. Short circuit is said to be reason behind the breakout of fire. The local residents managed to bring fire under control as the fire brigades, it is learnt, had not reached till the fire was brought under control.

The villagers gathered in big number immediately to douse off the flames. Had the fire not been controlled by the prompt action of the villagers, it would have lead to a greater loss to the neighboring fields as well. The owner of the wheat crop Piara Singh, son of Charan Singh, has demanded adequate compensation for the damage caused due to short circuit.
