BANDA: Two schoolgirls were killed and five other children were injured when the vehicle they were travelling in overturned in the neighbouring Chitrakoot district, a senior police official said on Thursday.

Two schoolgirls were killed and five other children were injured when the vehicle they were travelling in overturned in the neighbouring Chitrakoot district, a senior police official said on Thursday.

The students of a school at Kol Gadhiya village had taken a lift in the tractor-trolley on Wednesday afternoon on their way home when it overturned while negotiating a turn, Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar Jha said.

Shanti (12) and Vibha (13) died on the spot, Jha said.

Five other schoolchildren were injured and admitted to a hospital, he said, adding that the driver fled the scene leaving the tractor-trolley behind. PTI
