Former prime minister Manmohan Singh turned 87 on Thursday as greetings poured in from friends and colleagues.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi led the Twitter wishes for Singh, who was greeted by most of his former cabinet colleagues.

The Congress official twitter handle floated “HappyBdayDrSingh” hashtag on Twitter posting a video spanning the life and times of the ex-PM.

The video tracked Singh’s bureaucratic and political journey from 1972 until 2014 celebrating his many achievements, including the liberalisation of Indian economy in 1991, the nomination as PM in 2005, the Indo-US nuke deal and the many rights-based laws that the Congress-led UPA under Singh enacted.

Rahul Gandhi said in his message, “On his birthday, let us acknowledge Dr Manmohan Singh Ji’s selfless service, dedication & incredible contribution to the cause of nation building. My best wishes to him on his birthday. I pray for his good health and happiness in the years to come.

#HappyBirthdayDrSingh”.
