Kolkata, January 27

The state Congress unit today sought disciplinary action against former Union Law Minister Kapil Sibal for accepting the Mamata Banerjee government’s brief in the Supreme Court against the CBI probe into the Saradha scam.

Kapil Sibal was in the court today on behalf of the state government.  But the two-member Bench did not take up the hearing because of their other scheduled programmes.

West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee president Adhir Chowdhury said they had conveyed their protest against Sibal’s decision of defending the TMC government to the All India Congress Committee (AICC) leadership, including Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Ganhdi.

He hoped that the AICC leadership would take appropriate action against Sibal.
