Jaipur, January 31

A 32-year-old labourer who allegedly canned his son (5) and also beat up daughter (3) after hanging her on a petty issue at a village in Rajsamand district, has been arrested after a video of his barbaric act went viral on social media.

Chain Singh Rawat was arrested under Sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement), 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) of the IPC and other relevant sections of the Juvenile Justice Act. He was produced before a court which sent him to judicial custody, DSP Chandan Singh said.

In the video, Rawat is seen canning his 3-year-old daughter after tying and hanging her and thrashing his son mercilessly inside their house when his wife was away.

His brother made a video of this barbaric act, showing the kids writhing in pain and crying for help.

Despite his cruel act, his wife Dali did not agree with the facts saying her husband had slapped the kids because they had shat in clothes and were eating soil.

Later, Rawat confessed that he did so to scare the kids.

The District Child Welfare Committee has lodged an FIR yesterday with the Devgarh police following which the accused was apprehended and sent to jail after the court's order. The kids were administered medical treatment and handed over to their mother, the DSP said.
