Soon after Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday declared that Sanskrit was in the DNA of India, the Uttar Pradesh’s Department of Information started the release of government press statements in Sanskrit as well.

Speaking at a function organised by Sanskrit Bharti on Monday, CM Yogi observed that while Sanskrit was in the DNA of India, it was now limited to the work of priests.

Addressing a gathering of Sanskrit scholars, including 40 families whose children converse in Sanskrit, CM Yogi interacted with them to which the children replied in Sanskrit. He said PM Narendra Modi gets the credit of making Yoga international recognition as now June 21 was being observed as Yoga Day by 192 countries.

He added that similarly he showcased the ancient “Kumbh Mela” as a cultural legacy of the country. Incidentally, there appears to be 25 periodicals in Sanskrit being printed in UP, but none of them is a daily.
