The BJP has set up a panel of three MPs to inquire into and report about the recent incident of the brutal murder of Dalit labourer Jagmale Singh at Chandliwala village in Sangrur district.

This three-member committee comprises party vice-president and Rajya Sabha member Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, Baghpat MP Satyapal Singh and Lok Sabha member from Jharkhand VD Ram. Both Satyapal Singh and VD Ram are former senior police officers.

This committee will visit Chandliwala village on Saturday to meet the victim’s family, community leaders and other villagers as well as government officials, a statement issued by the party said.

The committee, apart from other issues, will also look into “serious allegations of apathy on the part of the government officials and the state police in extending quick medical assistance to the deceased and incorporating Section 302 of the IPC in the FIR against the culprits of this heinous crime”. The committee will submit its report to the party leadership after the visit.
