BKU protests as bank refuses to return gold

SANGRUR:Leaders of the BKU Ugraha today protested in front of ICICI Bank in Longowal after the bank allegedly refused to return the gold ornaments of a Dalit woman.

Leaders of the BKU Ugraha today protested in front of ICICI Bank in Longowal after the bank allegedly refused to return the gold ornaments of a Dalit woman.

“Dalit woman Ranjit Kaur had taken a gold loan of Rs 60,000 after mortgaging her 4 tolas of gold last year. But now the bank authorities are not returning her ornaments as they have sold it without her consent. We will start an indefinite protest here if the authorities do not return her gold,” said Saroop Chand, BKU Ugraha leader of Sunam. 

Later, the protesters lifted their dharna after the bank authorities assured them of looking into the matter at the earliest.
