Following threats to Kashmiri students, Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh today assured that all such students would be given protection in the state.

He said around 4,000 Kashmiri students were studying across the state. “I assure full protection. They have nothing to do with the Pulwama attack,” he said.

Meanwhile, around 125 Kashmiri students are said to have arrived in Mohali so far from other states, including Uttarakhand and Haryana. Around 70 students from Dehradun and Ambala had arrived in Mohali yesterday.

“All have been put up at private places with the support of the Jammu and Kashmir Students Organisation and a local religious body,” sources said. A gurdwara has offered food and shelter. — TNS
