Chief Judicial Magistrate Suresh Kumar Goyal today adjourned the hearing in the I-T cases pending against Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and his son Raninder Singh till January 21.

Income Tax Department lawyer Rakesh Gupta sought the adjournment with the plea that the department wanted to lead evidence and for that they needed sufficient time.

Recently, the Court of Additional Sessions Judge Rajeev K Beri had set aside the summoning order passed against the CM and his son in three alleged tax evasion cases. All cases were remanded back with directions to proceed as per law in view of observations made in the quashing order.

The department had placed on record Photostat copies of documents obtained from the French authorities with claim that documents supported their tax evasion claims. But the appellate court had put a question mark over the admissibility of these documents.
