The Malerkotla-II police have registered a rape case against a local resident on the complaint of a girl.

The victim has alleged that Aakib raped her repeatedly for three years on the pretext of marrying her. When the accused refused to marry her, the victim informed her parents and they lodged a complaint last week.

“We have registered a case under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Aakib and conducting raids to arrest the accused,” said Sub-Inspector Harshjot Kaur.
