JALANDHAR: The muddy water that inundated several villages in the district has made the area prone to vector-borne diseases. The presence of carcasses in water is adding to the threat.

The muddy water that inundated several villages in the district has made the area prone to vector-borne diseases. The presence of carcasses in water is adding to the threat.

Since August 23, 3,178 persons in Kapurthala have been treated for various such diseases. In Jalandhar, 10 days after the floods hit the district, health teams have not been able to provide dengue or malaria testing kits. Fever and skin infection are among the most common problems. — TNS
