Bodies of two youths recovered

Abohar: The bodies of two youths have been recovered from different canals. The body of Sandeep Prajapat (28) of Azeemgarh here was recovered from the Gang Canal near Sadhuwali village on the Abohar-Sriganganagar road on Friday. The family said he had left the house on Tuesday. In another incident, the body of Bhupinder Singh (30), a carpenter and resident of Thakur Abadi, here was recovered from a sub-canal near Jandwala Hanvanta village. OC


Man, sons booked for abetting suicide

Fazilka: Following suicide by Ramesh Kumar (42) over a land dispute at Khui khera village, the police on Saturday booked his elder brother and nephews for abetment to suicide. Chanchal of Ramkot village alleged that his father was being harassed by his paternal uncle Umesh Pal and his sons Sanjay and Ajay over a land dispute. OC


Three held for smuggling liquor 

Abohar: The police here on Saturday claimed to have seized 1,380 bottles of liquor smuggled from Haryana by intercepting a pickup van on the city bypass as it was entering the Kandhwala road from Dhani Bishesharnath. Kala Singh and Rohit of Prem Nagar and Babbu Balbir of Pucca Seed Farm were arrested under the Excise Act. Kala Singh’s son Rinku managed to flee. OC


2,500 tablets seized, one nabbed

Sangrur: The Sunam police have arrested one person and confiscated 2,500 habit-forming tablets. “The accused, Parveen Kumar, was nabbed on Friday night from near Sunam grain market. We have registered a case and started further investigations,” said ASI Gurmale Singh. TNS
