MOGA: Two Dalit girls were allegedly abducted in Moga district in the last two days, police officials said here on Friday. A 17-year-old girl, Manjit Kaur, was abducted by a youth from Moga city while she was going to her job on Thursday.

Meanwhile, another minor Dalit girl, Manpreet Kaur, of Ferozewala Bada village in Dharamkot subdivision was abducted by a youth identified as Sunder Singh of the same village. The police raided the possible hideouts of the youth, but he could not be located. TNS

PSPCL employees protest low wages 

Muktsar: Employees of the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) held a protest on Friday during Power Minister Gurpreet Singh Kangar's visit to the town. Later, a delegation was allowed to meet the minister, which handed him a memorandum. Hawara forms panel to pursue Sikh agenda

Ludhiana: Jagtar Singh Hawara, a convict in the Beant Singh assassination case and parallel Jathedar of Akal Takht, had given a letter to his father Gurcharan Singh at Tihar Jail in Delhi on January 8. The letter contained the names of five members of a panel which will bring all the Panthic leaders on one platform to decide the further course of action to pursue the Sikh agenda. Gurcharan Singh, along with the five newly appointed members - Amar Singh Chahal, Narayan Singh Choura, Jaspal Singh Heiran, Prof Baljinder Singh and Master Santokh Singh Dabewal - addressed a press conference. Stray bull injures rickshaw-puller 

Abohar: A stray bull on Friday attacked a rickshaw-puller Rajpreet Singh in the Lala Lajpat Rai market near Valmiki Chowk here. His leg was fractured in the incident even as onlookers tried to push away the bull. The victim was shifted to the Civil Hospital. Sub-Divisional Magistrate Poonam Singh said the administration did not have adequate funds to provide shelter to these animals. OC

Sikh becomes Pak Punjab Guv’s PRO

Islamabad: In a first, a Sikh has been appointed as the Public Relations Officer (PRO) to the Governor of Pakistan’s Punjab province. It was announced on Friday. The announcement of the appointment of Pawan Singh Arora was made by Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar. “For the first in history of Governor House, Lahore, first Sikh Public Relations Officer Pawan Singh Arora has assumed charge as PRO to Governor, Punjab,” Sarwar tweeted. He said Arora was previously working as District Information Officer of Nankana Sahab district. PTI

Sukhbir forms manifesto panel

Chandigarh: SAD chief Sukhbir Badal on Friday announced a 17-member election manifesto committee to prepare the party’s manifesto in the run-up to the General Election. The panel will be headed by MP Balwinder Singh Bhunder as chairman, while former speaker Charanjit Singh Atwal will be its member secretary. Other members are Jathedar Tota Singh, Maheshinder Singh Grewal, Prof Prem Singh Chandumajra, Janmeja Singh Sekhon, Kirpal Singh Badungar, Jagir Kaur, Bikram Singh Majithia, Sikandar Singh Maluka, Gulzar Singh Ranike, Naresh Gujral, Parminder Singh Dhindsa, Hira Singh Gabria, Pawan Kumar Tinu and Harcharan Bains.
