Ranjit Singh Brahmpura, president, SAD (Taksali), said though his party had not fielded any candidate from Bathinda and Ferozepur, he would campaign there for the defeat of the Badal family. At Bathinda sitting MP Harsimrat Kaur is fielded by SAD while her husband Sukhbir Singh Badal is party candidate from Ferozepur.

Referring to Bargari and Behbal Kalan firing incidents and pardon to Dera Sacha Sauda chief, the Khadoor Sahib MP claimed that Badal’s had committed a great sin and he along with other party leaders would go to Bathinda and Ferozepur to urge people not to vote for them. “We will not ask people there to vote for a particular party. We will urge them to vote for anyone, but Badals,” he said.

Replying to a query, Brahmpura said he tried to form a mahagathbandhan of parties to oust the Congress and the SAD from the political scenario of the state. “Now when it could not be materialised, the ball is in the court of people who are more intelligent than politicians,” he added.

Earlier, he inaugurated the election office of party candidate Bir Devinder Singh at Anandpur Sahib and met Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib Jathedar Raghbir Singh.

Brahmpura said the decision of the Election Commission of India to remove senior member of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, had dashed the hopes of the people.

He claimed that SAD (Taksali) was the real Akali Dal which was formed in 1920 and the other Akali Dal had been “destroyed by the Badal family only to grab power in the state”.

Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh deceived the people by claiming that he would end drug menace in the state, but rather the use of drugs was on the rise due to the police-politician nexus, he alleged. He reiterated that his party would support Bibi Paramjit Kaur Khalra in the Khadoor Sahib constituency.
