Sethi resigns as PCB chief, Imran nominates Ehsan Mani

Karachi: Najam Sethi resigned from the post of Pakistan Cricket Board chairman as Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan nominated former ICC president Ehsan Mani as his successor. Sethi’s future in the PCB was under cloud after Khan was elected as PM, as he never shared a very good rapport with the cricketer-turned-politician. Sethi said he took the decision to make way for Khan to implement his vision for Pakistan cricket.

Duleep Trophy match ends in a tame draw

Openers Sanjay Ramaswamy (123*) and Baba Aparajith (101*) lit up the final day with twin centuries as the opening match of the Duleep Trophy between India Red and India Green ended in a tame draw.

SRT, Ganguly and VVS to continue as CAC members

The Committee of Administrators chief Vinod Rai clarified that Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman will continue as the members of Cricket Advisory Committee till the new BCCI constitution is adopted and the elections take place. Rai said the amended constitution will be ready in a few days.

Ronaldo, Salah on UEFA player of year shortlist

Cristiano Ronaldo, Luka Modric and Mohamed Salah have been short-listed for the UEFA Player of the Year award, the sport’s European governing body said. VfL Wolfsburg striker Pernille Harder and Olympique Lyonnais forward Ada Hegerberg and defensive midfielder Amandine Henry were short-listed for the women’s award. The awards will be presented at this season’s Champions League group-stage draw in Monaco on August 30. — Agencies
