Ludhiana: Sant Ishar Singh Memorial Public School, Karamsar Rara Sahib, organised a summer camp from May 21 to 30 for the students of UKG to Class V under the guidance of Dr Dhiraj Kumar Thapliyal, principal of the school.

Ludhiana: Sant Ishar Singh Memorial Public School, Karamsar Rara Sahib, organised a summer camp from May 21 to 30 for the students of UKG to Class V under the guidance of Dr Dhiraj Kumar Thapliyal, principal of the school. About 571 students participated in the camp. To break the monotony of the daily routine of school, the summer camp focused on overall development of students, along with creative sessions on art and craft, table tennis, Gatka, skating, karate, yoga, music, dance and non-fire cooking. Professional trainers were called to train students. Students were also taken to a water park.

Seminar for teachers

A session on breaking the cultural mind set of interlinking students and stress was organised for teachers at BVM, Kitchlu Nagar. Abhishek Leela Pandey, spokesperson for the event, spoke on ‘Hey Teachers! Leave them kids alone’. For saving students from being caught in the network of “trying and demanding”, teachers were guided to liberate students by encouraging their capabilities and allowing them to excel on their own terms. 

No Tobacco Day observed

No Tobacco Day was observed at Tagore Public School.  A special assembly was arranged by the students of Class IX-B. A thought-provoking speech and poem in Hindi, on the present scenario of drug-infested youth of Punjab, was delivered by students. Students also prepared placards bearing anti-tobacco slogans. Principal Baljinder Bhathal spoke on the need to eradicate drugs and motivated students to take the pledge of not letting tobacco spoil their lives. A poster-making competition was also conducted for Class VI to VIII.

SDP School

The NSS volunteers and NCC cadets of SDP Senior Secondary School, Hazuri Road, organised a rally against the use of tobacco. Students raised slogans tobacco consumption and highlighted the ill effects of it through posters to create awareness among people. Students also took an oath to refrain from consuming tobacco. Principal Jasveer Singh Chauhan flagged off the rally, which was led by the NSS officers Neena Sharma and Jagmohan Verma, and the NCC inchage Kulbir Singh.

Visit to traffic park

To sensitise students regarding traffic rules, Guru Nanak Public School, Birmi, arranged a visit to Children’s Traffic Training Park for the students of Class IV to VI. Students were informed about the rules to be followed on the road. Demonstrations on careful driving were also given. Students were engaged in various activities related to road signs such as crossword puzzles, throw a dice and quiz. Principal Harjit Kaur Dua said such activities developed understanding of concepts related to real life use.

Investiture held

Gujranwala Guru Nanak Public School, Rose Garden, organised an investiture to instate the student council for the session 2019-20. The ceremony began with an invocation to the Almighty. The newly appointed members of the council were endowed with badges and sashes. Principal Gunmeet Kaur administered the oath and addressed the council to follow the path of righteousness. She advised them to uphold values of punctuality, discipline and humility.

Farewell party

Guru Nanak International Public School, Model Town, organised a farewell party for Manmohan Kaur, PGT SST teacher, and Rupinder Mangat and Poonam Lamba, both from Hindi department. Principal Gurmant Kaur Gill presented bouquets, mementoes, gratuity cheques and shawls to the outgoing faculty. She lauded the dedicated services of the teachers throughout their tenure and wished them success for future endeavours. The outgoing teachers also shared their memories and experiences. Gurvinder Singh Sarna, general secretary, gave the vote of thanks. TNS
