The pilferage of oil from vehicles continues unabated at the Guru Gobind Singh Refinery in the district. A fresh incident has been reported in which police have registered a case against six for beating a security supervisor at the refinery as he stopped them from stealing fuel.
In a complaint to the police, Sukhpreet Singh of Ramgarh Bhundar stated that he was deployed as security supervisor at Rama refinery. The L&T company was working in the refinery. On November 22, supervisor Gurvinder Singh, helper Ajay Kumar, Jony, Bittu, Manga Singh and Bogha Singh were stealing oil from a crane of the company working inside the refinery. When he tried to stop them, they beat him badly.
They also threatened him of killing him, he said. Investigation Officer Randhir Singh said, on a statement of Sukhpreet Singh, they have registered a case against the suspects and have started investigation into the case. However, no arrests have been made so far.
Earlier on March 25, an oil tanker caught fire near the depot at Jassi Pao Wali village, when some miscreants were stealing oil. On January 14, another pilferage incident was reported from tankers coming from the Guru Gobind Singh Refinery. The police had arrested six drivers in the case.
