Taking green route to conserve fuel

Bathinda, January 19

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) on behalf of oil industry organised a Saksham Cycle Day on Sunday to spread awareness on fuel conservation. The cycle rally was flagged off by Desraj Singh, AIG Punjab Police and Vinay Kumar Singh, Chief Regional Manager, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited.

City residents participated in the rally with full enthusiasm. The Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) and oil marketing companies under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gases are celebrating a month-long Saksham 2020 programme from January 16 to February 15 to promote conservation and judicious use of petroleum resources in the country. The tagline for SAKSHAM 2020 is ‘Indhan adhik na khapayen aao paryavaran bachayen’.

Desraj Singh and Vinay Kumar Singh stressed upon the need to adopt fuel conservation methods like car pooling, using cycle for small distances, using energy efficient equipment, use of correct cooking methods and driving vehicles at a moderate speed. Bathinda Cycle Group played an important role in make the program successful. — TNS
