Bathinda, July 18

Students of Government Girls Senior Secondary School on Mall Road have been facing a tough as the school compound has been inundated after rain.

As many as 2,100 students have to face the brunt of negligent attitude of the authorities towards addressing the waterlogging problem. The students are forced to pass through the corridor to reach their respective classes. Water accumulation has increased the chances of vector-borne diseases outbreak.

The school principal said they had apprised the authorities concerned of the situation and water was likely to be drained out on Thursday.

“There is no water in the classrooms. Classes are being held normally. Due to the accumulation of water on the premises, students have been forced to take a long route to reach their respective classrooms. We had approached the Municipal Corporation on Wednesday to drain out water from the school premises. Officials have informed us the issue will be resolved by Friday,” she added.— TNS
