Five arrested for killing mechanic, one still at large

Faridabad, November 25

The police claimed to have cracked the murder case of a 55-year-old mechanic, Subhash, who was shot dead by two bike-borne assailants in the NIT area here on November 20. Five persons have been arrested so far.

Revealing that a total of six persons, including a nephew and a niece of the victim, were involved in the killing, a police spokesperson said five of them had been arrested. He said it was a case of contract killing done on the behest of Jaidev and his sister Khevita, son and daughter of the victim’s sister, over a property dispute. He said Jaidev and Khevita allegedly paid Rs 1.5 lakh to their friend Kuldeep, his wife Suman and their associates Amit and Bharat.

While Kuldeep belongs to Kosi Kalan in Mathura district, Amit and Bharat hail from the Hodal subdivision of Palwal district. It was Bharat and Amit who killed Subhash at 7.15 am outside his repair stall on Railway Road here.

The breakthrough came after the police interrogated the neighbours and relatives of Subhash and found out about a property dispute.

Jaidev and Khevita, who were arrested on November 23, admitted to the crime. Their probe led to the arrest of the three other accused — Kuldeep, Suman and Amit — on Monday, the police said and claimed that Bharat would be nabbed soon. The accused will be produced in the court on Tuesday. — TNS
