Treyaksh Bali smashed a double century as Chandigarh declared their first innings closed on 496/8 runs against visitors Kurukshetra on the opening day of their Pataudi Trophy match at the Mahajan Cricket Ground in Mani Majra, here, on Saturday.
Batting first, skipper Guntashveer Singh and Bali provided a solid platform to the Chandigarh innings with an opening wicket partnership of 202 runs.
The duo was separated when the skipper fell to Harjot Singh on 65.
Bali, though, continued to clobber the Kurukshetra bowlers and brought up his double century. The opener finally fell to Mrignak Sharma on 257. His 180-ball stay in the middle was studded with 21 boundaries and 19 sixes.
Ankit Kumar made a quick-fire 68, while Manul added 29 runs to the total. Shasya Jamwal chipped in with 28 runs.
Sahib Singh was the most effective bowler for the visitors, picking 3/106.
In reply, Kurukshetra were batting on 56/0 at the draw of stumps.
