Chandigarh, February 22
Three persons have been arrested by the cybercrime cell of the UT police for duping a city resident of Rs 40,000.
In a complaint to the police, Suresh Kumar had stated that he had received a message on Facebook by a person, who posed as an IPS officer from Uttar Pradesh.
The fraudster told the complainant that he was selling his furniture as he was getting transferred. Further, a person named Santosh Kumar, who introduced himself as a CRPF officer, held a communication with the victim, who agreed to purchase the furniture and transfer Rs 40,000 through Paytm. The victim later realised that he had been duped.
During investigation, Hakam Deen (34), Aakib Khan (24) and Iqbal, alias Kuli, all residents of Rajasthan, were arrested in the case.
