Ice cream vendor, cyclist stabbed, robbed; 2 held

CHANDIGARH:Two motorcycle-borne miscreants allegedly stabbed and robbed an ice cream vendor and a cyclist last night before getting caught.

Two motorcycle-borne miscreants allegedly stabbed and robbed an ice cream vendor and a cyclist last night before getting caught. While one of the accused was caught by a PCR team near Sukhna Lake, his accomplice was caught later on.

The police said at 12.03 am, they received information that two persons riding a motorcycle had stabbed an ice cream vendor near a petrol pump in Sector 7 and robbed him of his purse. The accused escaped from the spot. The police rushed to the spot and found Arun Sharma, a resident of Kaimbwala village, at the spot. His son Rohan, who was present at the spot at the time of the incident, stated that the accused threatened him as well.

In the meantime, at 12.21 am, the police received another call about a person being stabbed on the rear side of Sukhna Lake near the Kishangarh turn. A police party reached the spot and found that two motorcycle-borne miscreants had stabbed Shekhar Pujari, an employee of a restaurant, Swagath, in Sector 26, while he was going towards Kishangarh. The accused also robbed the victim of his purse. 

The police said Sanjay, a resident of Sector 41, who was an eyewitness, tried to chase the accused, who ran towards Sukhna Lake, leaving the motorcycle behind. 

Police teams reached Sukhna Lake and nabbed one of the accused following which the other one was also nabbed. 

The duo was identified as Karan (21), who works in a canteen at the Punjab and Haryana High Court, and Sourabh (21), who works at a roadside dhaba. Both are residents of Kaimbwala. 

During investigation, the police found the same accused were involved in both incidents. Both victims were admitted to the hospital. 

The knife used in the crime has also been recovered by the police. Both accused were produced in a court, which remanded them in two-day police custody. 

The interrogation of the accused revealed that the motorcycle used in the crime was forcibly taken away by the accused from a person at Kansal village in Mohali district.
