Man robbed at gunpoint, 4 booked

PATIALA:A city-based resident was allegedly robbed at gunpoint by unidentified people on Friday night.

A city-based resident was allegedly robbed at  gunpoint by unidentified people on Friday night. The incident took place around 10 pm when the victim, Nishant Sharma, was on his way to Jogipur village.  

According to the police, an unidentified person signaled the victim to stop which the later did not do. Subsequently, the suspect started following the victim. Miscreants who were in the car overtook the victim’s bike and blocked the way thus forcing him to stop.

According to the complainant, four men came out of a car and one of them took out a pistol and pointed it on his chest. “They took off my gold chain, a ring and wallet which had Rs 4,500. The ring and gold chain was worth Rs 40,000. Later, the miscreants sat in their car and opened fire into the air to frighten me,” said Nishant. The complainant said number plate of the car was covered with mud. 

Sanour Station House Officer said, “We are scrutinising CCTV footages to identify the car. The number plate of the vehicle was deliberately covered by suspects with mud. Investigation is underway. ”

The police have registered a case under Sections 379-B and 336 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Sections 25/54/59 of the Arms Act.
