Chandigarh: Three motorcycle-borne miscreants snatched a mobile phone from a man here on Sunday. The victim, Vivek, was walking in the Sector 22 market when three boys on a motorcycle approached him and fled with his mobile phone. The police have registered a case in this regard. They are checking CCTV footage available in the area. TNS

Woman loses Rs 65K to thieves

Chandigarh: A 61-year-old woman has lost almost Rs 65,000 to thieves. A Sector 22 resident, Asha Rani, had gone to the Sector 21 community centre to attend a function. She left her purse in the car. When she came back, she found the purse missing. The purse contained Rs 1,800 along with some documents and three ATM cards. Later, the thieves used the same ATM cards to shop online worth Rs 63,000. The police have registered a case and are investigating the matter. TNS

Mobile phones, cash stolen

Chandigarh: A resident of Bapu Dham Colony, Sector 26, reported that two mobile phones and Rs 5,000 were stolen from his house on Friday. Nathu Ram, an insurance agent, told the police that when he woke up on Friday morning, he found his and his wife’s phone along with Rs 5,000 missing. The police have registered an FIR under Section 380 of the IPC and are investigating the matter. TNS

11 booked for assault

Lalru: Two days after a property dealer of Zirakpur was allegedly attacked with knives and rods near the ITI intersection at Lalru, the police here today booked 11 persons. However, no arrest has been made so far. The case was registered following the complaint of the victim, Gulshan Rai, a resident of Zirakpur. During the preliminary investigation it has come to the fore that the incident can be related to some property dispute. After recording the statement of the victim, the police have booked the 11 persons under various sections of the IPC. OC

Infant dies in road mishap

Ropar: A one-year-old boy was killed when he was hit by a Bolero vehicle at Mangewal, near here, on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Khushdeep Singh. He was with his father Gurmukh Singh when the vehicle hit him, leading to his death on the spot. A case has been aregistered. TNS
