Mohali DC deputes more staff to curb illegal mining

MOHALI:To counter the increasing incidents of illegal mining, Mohali Deputy Commissioner Gurpreet Kaur deputed more officials at special nakas and ordered to send her their daily reports with photographs.

To counter the increasing incidents of illegal mining, Mohali Deputy Commissioner Gurpreet Kaur deputed more officials at special nakas and ordered to send her their daily reports with photographs.

It is to be noted that the Mohali DC had admitted that illegal mining in the district was rampant and the staff concerned was not cooperating to check the hazard.

Giving details, Sapra said she had deputed more officials at nakas to check  illegal excavation and operations of illegal stone crushers with instructions to send her their reports daily with photographs. "The officials have been asked to send their report on e-mail," said Sapra.

She said SDMs would be overall in-charge in this regard in their respective sub-divisions while Assistant Excise and Taxation Commissioners and executive engineers would monitor their staff being deputed for the purpose. The DSP-rank officers would coordinate with the SDMs for effective action against the illegal miners.
