Patiala, August 27
Dr Dharmavira Gandhi, MP, Patiala, has condemned the attack on Manjit Singh GK, president of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC), in the US.
In a written statement released to the media here on Monday, he said such behaviour was not only undemocratic and against the right to freedom of expression, but also violated the Sikh traditions.
He said on the one hand, organisations such as the ‘Khalsa Aid’ were glorifying the Sikh traditions by helping Kerala flood victims, while on the other, incidents such as thrashing and insulting people within the gurdwara precincts only made Punjabis, Sikhs in particular, hang their heads in shame.
While clearing his position of not interfering in the internal affairs of any religious community, he appealed to all Sikh brethren to shun such fratricidal feuds.
