Chandigarh: An all-round performance by Rajesh Patha helped Professional XI register a five-wicket win over Panjab & Haryana High Court XI in a Champions Corporate League match at Tau Devi Lal Stadium here on Monday.



Chandigarh: An all-round performance by Rajesh Patha helped Professional XI register a five-wicket win over Panjab & Haryana High Court XI in a Champions Corporate League match at Tau Devi Lal Stadium here on Monday. Batting first, High Court XI scored 140/8 in 20 overs. Anmol (24), Puneet Bali (22) and Nikhil (22) made useful contributions to the High Court XI total. Ramesh (2/22), Patha (2/23) and Sumit Hooda (2/38) took two wickets each. Professional XI, in reply, scampered home in 16.3 overs with five wickets in hand. Patha hammered an unbeaten 41-ball 62, while Deepanshu contributed 33 runs to the chase. Anand Bhishnoi took 2/19 for High Court XI. TNS

Shahid bowls LWCC to victory 

Chandigarh: Shahid Ahmed picked 4/2 as Livewire Coaching Centre (LWCC) defeated PMK Group of Companies by seven wickets at Divya Public School, Sector 44, here on Monday. Opting to bat, PMK were bowled out for 71 runs in 15.1 overs. Piyush Mahajan remained unbeaten on 19, while Vishal chipped in with 17 runs. Shahid was the wrecker-in-chief for LWCC. He was well supported by Harshul Vats (2/16).  In reply, LWCC reached home in just 12.5 overs, with Harvinder Nain hammering an unbeaten 30. Abhishek Bhateja contributed 19 runs to the chase. TNS

Kamalpreet clinches gold

Mohali: Gian Jyoti Global School won three medals, including gold, in the Inter City Taekwondo Martial Arts Little Champs Contest and the UCTC Cup Taekwondo Championship here. Kamalpreet of Class V won the gold medal, while Piyush Latawa of Class VI and Saksham Parmar of Class V won a silver medal each in their respective categories. Over 150 students from Mohali participated in the championship. TNS

YMCA register 123-run win

Mohali: YMCA registered a 123-run win over St Stephan’s Cricket Academy in The Beat U-15 Tournament match here on Monday. Batting first, YMCA scored 181/7 in 30 overs. Gurpreet Singh made an unbeaten 42, while Shivdeep Singh added 30 runs to the total. Rajneesh Kumar (2/31) and Ravi Shankar (2/34) took two wicket apiece. In reply, St Stephan’s Academy were bowled out for 58 runs in 23 Overs. Krishpreet (12) was the only batsman to enter the double digits. For YMCA, Harsh Kashyap claimed 4/5, while Salman Ahmed picked 2/14. Gurpreet Singh was adjudged Man of the Match. On Tuesday, St Joseph’s School will lock horns with Dashmesh Cricket Academy, Zirakpur. TNS

Summer Cricket Cup from June 1

Panchkula: Eight teams will compete in the U-15 Summer Cricket Cup, which is scheduled to begin at St Soldier's School, Panchkula, from June 1. Sarvkitkari Cricket Academy (Mohali), Indus Valley Cricket Academy (Dera Bassi), Royal Cricket Academy (Chandigarh), Suraj Bhan Dreams Cricket Academy (Panchkula), Eicher School Cricket Academy (Parwanoo), Bhawan Cricket Academy (Panchkula), Sunrise Cricket Academy (Zirakpur) and Narinder Walia Cricket Academy (Panchkula) will compete in the tournament, the organisers said here on Monday.
