Patiala, May 4

English letters on signboards on Sangrur and Samana roads here have been smeared with black paint by some miscreants.

They have written names of cities, falling in Haryana, in Hindi on the boards.

At places, names of Cheeka and Kaithal in Haryana have also been untidily written in Hindi.

Patiala Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kumar Amit said, “We have received information about the defacement of public property. We have directed the Public Works Department (PWD) to rectify the boards.”

The Deputy Commissioner said no organisation had approached the district administration, presenting any demand in relation to the defacement.

He said, “We do not have information who defaced the boards but necessary steps will be taken in this regard.”
