Thief strangles woman to death

Mohali, September 16

An elderly woman was strangled to death by a thief at her residence at Ramgarh village near Daun here.

According to the police, the victim has been identified as Kamlesh (61). “She was sleeping in a room when the thief entered the house after midnight and strangled her,” said the police. A case under Section 460 of the IPC was registered station today.

“We will add Section 302 (murder) after receiving the postmortem report,” said Inspector Manphul Singh, SHO. He said victim’s son Rajiv and his wife Shilpa were sleeping in another room at the time of the incident. “According to kin, the thief entered the house after midnight. The couple woke up and tried to overpower the thief, but failed,” said the inspector. — TNS
