Chandigarh, September 13
Mohammad Usman has won a silver and bronze medal in the recently concluded Punjab State Paralympics held in Phillaur, Jalandhar.
The 28-year-old, whose left leg is affected by polio, won a silver medal in power lifting with a clearing of 120kg, while he claimed a bronze medal in the shot put event.
An employee of Punjab & Haryana High Court, Usman (in pic) had last year won the Mr. India Fitness Model (Patiala Zone) title in the 65kg handicap category He is now gearing up to participate in the Asian Open Paralympics Championship.
“I belong to an average family. My left leg is affected by polio but that has not deterred me from taking up a sport like weightlifting. I spend nearly three hours in gym everyday to keep my body in shape,” said Usman. — TNS
