Woman cop hit by car, hurt

CHANDIGARH: A woman constable of the Chandigarh Police was injured after being hit by a speeding car near the Botanical Garden, Sarangpur.

A woman constable of the Chandigarh Police was injured after being hit by a speeding car near the Botanical Garden, Sarangpur. The victim was crossing the road when the accident took place on December 9.

According to the police, complainant Ranbir Singh, a head constable, reported that a Ciaz car hit the victim, Bharti Rawat.

The victim was on duty at a government school in Khuda Lahora where an exam was being held. Later, while she was crossing the road, a car being driven by Harjinder Singh, a Sector 11 resident, hit her. The victim was seriously injured and taken to the PGI. She suffered a head injury and injuries on her shoulder and a leg. The police said a case had been registered against the driver at the Sarangur police station. The driver was arrested and later released on bail. —TNS
