DC flags off four happy seeder machines

BATHINDA: Deputy Commissioner Praneet on Wednesday flagged off four happy seeders at the PAU Krishi Research Centre to various villages in the Nathana and Rampura block where farmers would be made aware of disposing of paddy straw without burning it.

Deputy Commissioner Praneet on Wednesday flagged off four happy seeders at the PAU Krishi Research Centre to various villages in the Nathana and Rampura block where farmers would be made aware of disposing of paddy straw without burning it.

Around 80 farmers were present and DC Praneet asked them to visit and see the exhibition in the fields of Gurmail Singh and Gurpreet Singh Kothe Ratherain Mehraj, Darshan Singh Sidhu and Prem Singh.

On the occasion, Gurmail Singh and Gurpreet Singh told the Deputy Commissioner about the way in which they are managing the paddy stubble without burning in their fields for the last five years. They also spoke about the diesel consumption and health of soil with paddy-potato and paddy-wheat pattern.

While farmers Darshan Singh Sidhu and Prem Singh said about harvesting paddy in their fields with SMS combine and after that to settle the stubble they harvest twice and later use rotavator once and then potato is planted in it. They stated that they have been following this pattern since 2011.
