Chandigarh, December 9

Members of the Chandigarh Residents’ Associations Welfare Federation (CRAWFED) have expressed concern over an increase in crime in the city.

The association held a meeting of the executive committee today wherein SSP Nilambari Vijay Jagadale was the chief guest.

Hitesh Puri, chairman of the association , emphasised on the role of RWAs in modern policing and requested for involvement of more and more RWAs at police-public meetings. He also demanded representatives from CRAWFED in the police law and order committee for taking up issues and suggesting solutions.

Members raised concerns over underage driving by students going unchecked. They also suggested that the police must visit the residences of senior citizens, who live alone, at least once in a month. They requested the SSP to deploy cops in parks after sunset to check people consuming liquor. The meeting was attended by representatives of more than 70 RWAs of the city. — TNS
