Chandigarh, July 10

Hundreds of workers of the Haryana Youth Congress protested here under the Bharat Bachao Andolan. The police used water cannons on the protesting Youth Congress workers.

The protest was led by Indian Youth Congress (IYC) president Keshav Chand Yadav. The workers started a march from Aggarwal Bhavan in Sector 16, towards Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar’s residence. However, they were stopped by the police at the Housing Board Chandigarh-Panchkula point.

The protesters raised slogans against the BJP government and alleged that the Narendra Modi-led government failed in every front.

During the protest, a number of speakers, including newly appointed IYC president Keshav Chand Yadav, said they were protesting against the Modi government for its failure to address issues of unemployment, inflation, farmers, Dalit and women atrocities.

Over 30 Youth Congress workers, including the national president, vice-president, secretary and other office-bearers, were detained by the police during the protest.
