Chandigarh, October 17
The four-day CSNA theatre festival, organised by the Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi, concluded with the staging of a socially relevant play, ‘Saakhi’, by the Adakar Manch Mohali at Tagore Theatre here today.
Written by Davinder Daman and directed by Dr Sahib Singh,
the play was a literary exponent of the suffering of the farming community. When a depressed farmer is about to end his life, a Muslim saint talks to him about the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev. The play dwells upon problems such as drug addiction, dowry, love marriage, peasant struggle and implementation of Guru ‘s teachings in life. — OC
