Kingpin of drug cartel arrested

New Delhi, December 9

The police arrested a wanted kingpin of inter-state narcotic drug cartel. Refauqat (29), a resident of Bareilly, was having a reward of Rs 1 lakh on his head a police official said.

On October 1, Mohd. Shahid (30) and Irfan Hussain (36), carriers of inter-state drug cartel headed by Refauqat, were arrested with 20 kg of heroin .

At the instance Shahid and Hussain, the source of supply to this drug cartel, Najiul Haque (69), was arrested, said the DCP  (special cell).

As Refauqat was absconding and concealing his whereabouts to evade arrest, sources were developed and deployed in UP, Uttarakhand and West Bengal, he said. 

On Thursday, police received information regarding his movements in and around Bareilly and arrested while he was again in search of new hideout. He was brought to Delhi and produced before the court concerned. Five-day police custody has been obtained for interrogation. — TNS
