Woman, paramour booked for abetting husband’s suicide

LUDHIANA:Investigation conducted by the Salem Tabri police into the mysterious death of a cigarette vendor at Bhora village revealed that the wife of the deceased along with her paramour had driven him to suicide.

Investigation conducted by the Salem Tabri police into the mysterious death of a cigarette vendor at Bhora village revealed that the wife of the deceased along with her paramour had driven him to suicide.

Accordingly the police have registered an abetment to suicide case against Mohini Devi, wife of the deceased, her paramour Parshotam Lal, his mother Harbans Kaur and father Vijay Kumar, all residents of LIG flats here.

It is pertinent to mention here that 38-year-old Lal Chand was found dead under mysterious circumstances at his house in Bhora Colony on Thursday evening. Suspecting murder, kin of the deceased had leveled allegations at his wife. 

Family members of the deceased had also gathered at his house following which the SHO, Salem Tabri, Vijay Kumar, rushed to the spot to calm them.

As per the statement given by Somnath, brother of the deceased, Lal Chand got married to Mohini about 18 years ago. A few years ago Mohini developed illicit relationship with Parshotam and Vijay Kumar. Whenever Lal Chand protested the act of his wife, Parshotam of humiliated him, which drove him into depression.

On May 23, Lal committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance. 

Investigation officer, ASI Prem Singh, said it was yet unclear whether the deceased had committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance, or what. The medical report would only clear the air, he said while adding that the suspects were yet to be arrested.
