Local lad Anmol Jindal won silver medal in an individual event in the ongoing Khelo India University Games at Bhubaneshwar in Odisha. Anmol, representing Panjab University, Chandigarh, clocked 18:16.06 seconds to finish at second place in the 1,500-m freestyle event.

He followed Shaunak Prasade of the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences who took 17:55.16 seconds to bag gold medal while Prakyath D of Bangalore University, Karnataka, whose timing of 18:25.57 seconds fetched him bronze medal.

Besides, Anmol Jindal figured in the Panjab University quartet that clinched gold medal in the 4x100-m freestyle relay. Other members of the team were Anurag Dagar, Harnimrat Bhinder and Deepanshu Dahiya. They took 3:46.14 seconds to finish ahead of others to annex the gold medal.

Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Gujarat, swimmers took 3:53.79 seconds while Shivaji University, Maharashtra boys clocked 3:53.83 to secure silver and bronze medal, respectively.

Apinder Singh Grewal and Balraj Sharma, president and general secretary, respectively, of the Ludhiana District Swimming Association, appreciated Anmol’s achievement and wished him more success in future competitions.
