Chandigarh, September 22

The city reported four Covid deaths and 266 fresh cases today, taking the death total to 127. The UT saw more recoveries than fresh infections. In the past 24 hours, the city reported 383 recoveries. The case tally stands at 10,546. A 26-year-old man from Sector 35, who was suffering from metabolic encephalopathy (mental disorder), paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (a rare blood disorder) and acute kidney injury, died at the PGI.

The second fatality was of a 48-year-old man from Sector 52, who was suffering from pneumonitis (lung inflammation). Another 61-year-old Covid patient from Dhanas died due to the acute respiratory distress syndrome. He was also a diabetic. The fourth fatality in the city was of a 50-year-old man from Sector 37.

Mani Majra has reported the maximum number of cases with 19 infections, followed by Sector 40 (15), Sector 45 (14), and Sector 19 (12).

The UT has 2,622 active cases. So far, 7,794 have recovered from the disease. — TNS
