Ludhiana, November 23
Ninetysix persons tested positive for Covid while two persons lost their lives to the virus today. Patients on ventilator support were eight today which include two from Ludhiana district and the others were from other districts.
Now, the total number of positive cases in the district stand at 22,140. There are 844 active cases and the death toll has reached 883. Today, 149 persons were sent for home quarantine.
Those who lost their lives include a 71-year-old woman who was admitted to the CMC and was also a patient of hypertension, diabetes and a chronic kidney disease. The other person who succumbed to the virus was a 62-year-old man from Haibowal Kalan, who was also suffering from diabetes.
The 96 positive cases include 30 contacts of Covid patients, 15 referred from OPDs, 42 from flu corners, an undertrial, two pregnant women. Tracing of six persons was going on.
Meanwhile, in view of strong measures taken by the district administration to make people aware of taking precautions during the possible second phase of the virus, all hospitals including Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, will be making extensive awareness campaign in various localities of the city.
Secretary of the DMCH Managing Society Prem Kumar Gupta said the DMCH was undertaking all possible measures in making people aware about taking required precautions in fighting the spread of the pandemic.
Medical superintendent, Hero DMC Heart Institute, Bishav Mohan, said to contain Covid in its possible second phase, people should wear mask properly and avoid going to crowded places, People should go outside only when required.
“A distance of at least 2 feet should be maintained from each other and social distancing should be maintained to restrict further spread of the pandemic,” Dr Mohan said.
