Aaley Mohammad Iqbal, Deputy Mayor of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), set the stage for a plastic-free revolution as he launched the ‘100 Days to Beat Plastic-2.0’ campaign at the newly inaugurated Waste to Wonder Park (Dinosaur Park) in Sarai Kala Khan on Wednesday. This initiative seeks to make the MCD area a plastic-free zone with a hands-on approach from the public. Following up on last year's campaign initiated by Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, the ‘100 Days to Beat Plastic-2.0’ aims to wipe out plastic from the Municipal Corporation’s turf over the next 100 days.
Deputy Mayor Iqbal lauded the campaign's role in tackling the looming environmental threat posed by plastic. He applauded the MCD for steering the city towards a plastic-free future and spotlighted the inventive Waste to Art projects that "set the corporation apart".
Encouraging active citizen involvement, Iqbal stressed the integral role of public participation. He expressed confidence in the city's collective capability to transform Delhi into a plastic-free urban landscape.
