New Delhi, February 27

L-G VK Saxena today paved the way for the implementation of the Supreme Court’s direction for revision of allowances for judicial officers in Delhi on the basis of the recommendations of the Second National Judicial Pay Commission (SNJPC).

In its recent judgment on January 4, the court had accepted the SNJPC’s recommendations regarding the allowance of judicial officers and retired judicial officers of the Delhi Judicial Services (DJS) and the Delhi Higher Judicial Service (DHJS).

The court had set the deadline of February 29 for all states and union territories for the disbursements on account of arrears of salary, pension and allowances due and payable to judicial officers, retired judicial officers and family pensioners, officials of the L-G office said.

“The L-G approved the proposal of the Law Department in this regard. It has now been sent to the Department of Expenditure, Union Ministry of Finance, for its concurrence,” an official said.
