Chandigarh, March 7

A painter who lost both hands in a tragic accident, is about to hold his brush again.

He has received a new set of limbs after a donation by a woman who had pledged her organs to be used following her death.

Coming from an underprivileged background, the painter had lost all hope when he met with an accident in 2020 and lost his both hands.

As miracles happened, the hands of Meena Mehta, who was declared brain dead, came to the rescue of the 45-year-old painter.

But this would not have been possible without the hard work of a group of Delhi doctors and Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.

The surgery, which took more than 12 hours, involved connecting every artery, muscle, tendon and nerve between the donor’s hands and the recipient’s arms. The surgical excellence revived a painter’s dreams after the trauma of losing both hands.
