New Delhi, January 14

Ahead of the January 15 talks with the government, farmer leader Balbir Singh Rajewal on Thursday said efforts are being made to malign the agitation.

He urged everyone to maintain peace on January 26, when the farmers intend to hold a parallel parade.

Currently, there is speculation on social media that the farmers' tractor march will be on the Delhi roads, including the Rajpath. Rajewal said the tractor march would be held from the Delhi borders, and that rumours were being spread to malign the agitation.

Urging farmers to maitain peace and harmony, he said the outline for the march would be formalised and conveyed to the farmers, who were advised against issuing statements on the issue.

“We will carry out a tractor parade from the Delhi borders. The details of the march will be finalised soon, he said.

Not only social media but a section of the agitating farmers also has been claiming that they will hoist the Tricolour at the Red Fort on Republic Day and march on the Delhi roads towards Parliament.

Rajewal told The Tribune that the tractor march would be peaceful and the outline of the programme would be decided after the meeting with the Union ministers on Friday.
