Witnesses being threatened, says Jolly

NEW DELHI:Legal adviser to the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) Jasvinder Singh Jolly today said that witnesses in 1984 anti-Sikh riot case were being threatened for giving witness in the court.

Legal adviser to the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) Jasvinder Singh Jolly today said that witnesses in 1984 anti-Sikh riot case were being threatened for giving witness in the court.

He said recently Popri Kaur, who had a shop at Tilak Vihar, was allegedly threatened by an unknown person for giving witness in the riot case in court against the accused. During the riot she resided at Sultanpuri. Now she resided at resettlement colony at Tilak Vihar.

Jolly said that he submitted a petition in the district court for getting protection to the witnesses.

He said that earlier Shyam Kaur, Sheela Kaur and Joginder Singh were also threatened of dire consequences for giving witness in the court against the accused.

Jolly said that according to the government record, 3,000 Sikhs were killed during the riot in Delhi alone. Properties worth crores of rupees were damaged. The DSGMC has been fighting the case. So far, not a single accused has been convicted, he said.
