HAU, Oz varsity ink pact

Hisar: Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (HAU) and Western Sydney University, Australia, have signed an agreement for dual degree programme. Under the agreement, dual MSc and PhD degree programmes for students of HAU under a joint programme with Western Sydney University will begin. This agreement was signed by HAU Vice-Chancellor KP Singh and Western Sydney University Vice-Chancellor Barney Glower in the presence of Australian Education Minister Dan Tehan.Under this, the students will study for a certain period at HAU and thereafter at WSU. Such students will be awarded double degree i.e. both WSU and HAU will offer their respective degrees.

Sports competition organised 

Karnal: The 20th annual sports competition was organised at St Kabir Public School with great pomp. RK Chaudhary, District Education Officer (DEO), and Shreya Shankar, Miss India United Continent-2019, were the chief guests. Various sports and cultural activities such as mass PT, tug-of-war, relay race, aerobics and bhangra were performed by the students. These activities were followed by prize distribution ceremony for the sports week. The DEO urged parents and children to promote sports under the Fit India initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also suggested parents to monitor the use of social media by their wards. 

Director to bear edu cost of girls 

Sonepat: On his 52nd birthday, Narender Sura, Director-cum-Chairman of the management committee of the Guru Sadan Geetanjali Senior Secondary School, Badwasni, near Sonepat, adopted 52 girls from needy families. He will bear the expenses of their education and other requirements up to Class XII. The girls were selected after a month-long exercise and some of the adopted girls are already studying in his institute. He informed that there are sports facilities, including wrestling academy, in the school. The adopted girls participating in sports activities will be given free boarding and lodging in the school hostel.

Model United Nations conference 

Panipat: Dyal Singh Public School organised Model United Nations conference to highlight the working of United Nations. The theme of this conference was “Disarmament and development” in which different sub-topics were discussed and debated. The chief guest of this event was Chandrakanta, retired Vice-Principal, Dyal Singh College, Karnal. The conference started with the lighting of the lamp by the chief guest and Principal of the school Vinita Kumar Tomar. The academic adviser of Dyal Singh Public School, Karnal, Ramesh Lather and the academic adviser of DSPS, Sector-7, were also present. All the four schools of Dyal Singh College Trust Society participated in this conference. Hundreds of students of different schools also participated in it. The delegate of France was selected as the best delegate. The representatives of Argentina and Yemen were selected for special mention. 

10th foundation day celebrated 

Hisar: Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences celebrated its 10th foundation day. Dr Gurdial Singh, Vice-Chancellor, LUVAS, was the chief guest of the function. Dr Pardeep Singh, senior professor, welcomed the chief guest and other dignitaries. It was followed by presentation of annual report of College of Veterinary Sciences by Dean of the College Dr DP Sharma. The chief guest gave away awards in various categories of academics, sports and cultural activities to the winners. In addition, activities of poster making and declamation were also organised for the students of LUVAS. VC Dr Gurdial Singh congratulated the award winners and exhorted the university staff and students to take LUVAS to newer heights in the future. “For that, we all must fix our targets and must strive to achieve them. It will only be possible with concerted efforts of all including faculty, students and staff of LUVAS,” he said. Speaking on the achievements of LUVAS in the past year, he said that recently, an MoU was signed between LUVAS and Guelph University of Canada. Under this programme, four students of LUVAS will sent for summer internship programme this year.
