Karnal, August 19

Sculptures of postures of Surya Namaskar, installed by the Karnal Municipal Corporation (KMC) after spending Rs 30 lakh at a park situated on Mughal Canal, were vandalised by some miscreants.

The KMC engineering wing has been assigned to take legal action. The KMC is taking the help of CCTV cameras installed in nearby establishments to identify the culprits.

“The issue came to our notice and we have assigned the engineering wing of the KMC to take legal action,” said Dheeraj Kumar, EO, KMC.

Opposition leaders had earlier raised questions over the installation of these sculptures at huge expenditure in this park and had allegedly hinted at damaging those at the time of installation.

These sculptures were installed to spread awareness about the regimen and for the beautification of the city. The sculptures are inspired by similar ones installed at Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi.
